Getting started
›Is Python Visual Lab free?
Yes. The Visualizer, the free lesson pages, practice exercises, the assistant and the full member course are all free.
›Do I need to know any programming before starting?
No. Lessons start from the very first line of Python and explain every step in plain words. A good first stop is the beginner's guide.
›Do I need to install anything?
No. Everything runs in your web browser. You can optionally install the site as an app on your phone or computer from your browser's menu.
›Why should I create an account?
A free account unlocks the full course of 10 sections and 63 lessons, quizzes, saved progress, saved code and your dashboard. Sign up free or sign in.
The Visualizer
›What does the Python Visualizer do?
Paste Python code and watch it run step by step: the current line, variables in memory, printed output and a flow chart showing true/false branches and loops. Open the Visualizer.
›How do I control the playback?
Use Previous, Play, Pause, Next and Restart, and change the speed between 0.5× and 1.5×. Visualization Mode opens the view almost full screen.
›My program uses input(). Will it work?
Yes. Type your input values in the inputs box before you visualize, one per line.
›Why does a library like tkinter or pygame not work?
Libraries that open windows, play games or talk to hardware need a desktop computer and cannot run in a browser. For those, use a desktop editor such as VS Code, PyCharm or IDLE.
Course, quizzes and progress
›When is a lesson marked complete?
When you score 60% or more on the quiz at the end of the lesson. Just viewing the steps shows progress but does not complete the lesson.
›Can I retake a quiz?
Yes, you can retake quizzes. Your results appear on your dashboard.
›Will I lose my progress if I switch devices?
No. Progress, quiz results, ratings and saved code are stored with your account, so sign in on any device to continue.
›Is there a certificate?
Not at the moment. Your dashboard shows your completed lessons and quiz scores.
Help and privacy
›Who can I ask for help with my code?
Use the Python Visual Lab Assistant button in the bottom-right corner of any page. It explains code and errors in simple words. For extra practice try the practice exercises.
›Is my data private?
Yes. Your progress, saved code and ratings are visible only to you. Assistant chats are not saved. Read the Privacy Policy.
›How can I suggest an improvement or report a problem?
